Beartown Brewery was formed in December of 1994.
In March 1995 the first brew was sold
In January 1997, Beartown Brewery Ltd. was formed.
In 2003 Beartown Brewery Ltd was renamed Beartown Group Ltd,
& allowed all the pubs to come under the same company name

It had its first premises in a small industrial unit in Varey Road on the Eaton Bank Trading Estate in Congleton.
The brewery slowly expanded over the years, which resulted in the Brewery having 3 small industrial units.
It quickly out grew these & has now re-located to Spindle Street with 3 times the space.

One of the names of the first beer that was brewed was called SB bitter.
The name was derived from the fact that the site of the brewery in Varey Road was once the site of Samuel Bull's silk mill, so they named the beer after the man. Times have move on from them early days and now that SB Bitter has been upgraded and renamed Bearskinful 4.2% A.B.V

Over the past few years the business has grown dramatically.

Here are some photos of the work that was carried out to the new brewery
The Brewery as an empty shell
The new walls going up
Even the Headbrewer gets his hands dirty
Installing the new drains
The Cold room being built
The Cold room nearly finished

The Fermentation Room under construction

This photo shows the brew plant in operation
This was one of the last times that we brewed
in the old plant before it was replaced,
as you can see it has served
Beartown very well over the years
but was not able to keep up with demand.

This photo shows the grist in the mash tun
This is the vessel on the far left
on the photo to the left
The bar that goes from the
top left of the picture
to bottom right is the spray bar,
this puts the hot liquor over the grist

When the beer has finished
brewing in the copper
it is transferred
to the fermentation tanks
While it is in the fermentation tanks
the yeast does it's job
turning the sugar in to alcohol.

In the background you can see on the left
the new Copper & on the right
is the new Liquor tank.

Here we can see one of the workmen
welding the pipe work that connects
all the equipment together.
It is all done in some comfort

The new mash tun unwrapped & ready for Brewing
The Liquor tank all piped up to the rest of the plant
